  • ACCUPLACER®

ACCUPLACER®

Information On ACCUPLACER®:

ACCUPLACER® is a suite of computerized tests that help determine your knowledge in math, reading and writing as you prepare to enter college-level courses. These tests help to identify your strengths and weaknesses in each subject area. Thanks to ACCUPLACER’s® online format, the test questions are based on your responses to each question you’ve already answered. Questions increase or decrease in difficulty depending on your answers as you work through the test. ACCUPLACER® tests are untimed, so you can move at a comfortable pace. WRITEPLACER® is the only exception to this as it has a time limit of one hour. It’s important to give yourself enough time to do your best and complete the test because your results are the key factor in determining the courses you can take. Your results will be available immediately after you take the test. For more information on ACCUPLACER®, please visit their website.

Preparing For The ACCUPLACER®:

ACCUPLACER® has several tools and resources to help you to be better prepared for the test. Use these tools to become familiar with the types and format of ACCUPLACER® test questions. They can help you identify the academic areas where you may need a little help, and prepare to improve. ACCUPLACER® also provides a free study app to help students refresh their content knowledge, become familiar with the test's format, and practice with sample questions. The study app is designed for students taking either classic or next-generation ACCUPLACER® and helps them get prepared for test day.

Augusta University Applicants:

Augusta University students must bring a picture I.D. and a letter/email from Admissions stating which parts of the exam they are to take. The initial test fee for the exam is waived for Augusta University applicants who are taking the test for the first time. If any portion of the test needs to be retaken the student must pay the $25 retest fee.

Remote Test Takers:

Individuals taking the ACCUPLACER® for another university must be registered by their university to take the test remotely. Once the student is registered by their university they will receive a voucher for the exam via email that will include the voucher number and any directions they would need. The student is responsible for paying the $25 testing fee at our university in order to take the ACCUPLACER®.

ACCUPLACER® For Employment Purposes:

If you are required to take the ACCUPLACER® for employment purposes you must provide us with a letter or an email from the employer that states which exam(s) they are requiring you to take. For example, the employer may require you to take the reading and writing tests but not the math test. Individuals taking the ACCUPLACER® for employment purposes must make an appointment and pay the $25 testing fee.

ACCUPLACER® Retest Policy:

If a student does not achieve a minimum placement score on the initial test, the student may re-test two weeks (14 days) after their initial test. If a student does not achieve the desired placement score after the second test, the student may re-test three months (90) days after the first re-test (the second test date). If a student does not achieve the desired placement score after the third test, the student may re-test four weeks (30 days) after the third test. This applies to all subsequent re-tests.

Students are given these breaks in order to have time to focus on improving scores by reviewing practice materials and test descriptions on the ACCUPLACER website to further enhance their understanding of the test.

Transferring Scores:

There is a $25 fee in place for us to print and send your ACCUPLACER® scores to another university.
