The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a pre-entry test used to evaluate the academic preparedness of students applying for the School of Nursing.
The TEAS consists of a total of 170 questions on four subtest areas: Mathematics, Science, English and Reading. All subtests contain multiple choice questions with one correct answer. The Mathematics subtest measures knowledge of whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions and decimals, algebraic equations, percentages and ration/proportions (36 questions). The Science subtest covers science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, basic physical principles and general science (53 questions). The English subtest measures knowledge of punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words and spelling (28 questions). The Reading subtest covers paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension and inferences/conclusions (53 questions). Maximum time allowed for this test is 3 hours and 30 minutes.
The TEAS is computer-based and registration is limited. Once the spaces are filled, no more registrations will be accepted for that particular testing date.
