The name Arsenal was selected as a tribute to the historic origins of the Summerville Campus of Augusta University and the primary campus of our legacy institution Augusta State University. The Summerville campus used to be an arsenal during the early 19th century. You can find more information about the historic Augusta Arsenal here.
