Neah Miles

Kenya (2025), United Kingdom (2023)

"Studying abroad was one of the best times of my life! It allowed me to complete the required classes while having fun in a different country. New friendships and experiences were all possible due to studying abroad here at Augusta University! My advice to others is to give Study Abroad a try! It can make lasting memories while also helping you in your educational journey."

This image shows a person dressed in a dark coat and scarf, leaning against an old stone wall. In the background, the iconic Tower Bridge of London is visible under a partly cloudy sky, along with historic stone buildings that suggest the location is near the Tower of London. There are also several people gathered on a walkway behind the person, adding to the lively atmosphere of this popular tourist spot.

Brittany Hatcher

England (2019), Spain (2016)

"My study abroad experience had a significant impact on my career and personal growth. It broadened my global perspective, enhancing my ability to adapt to different cultures and environments. This exposure has been invaluable in shaping my critical thinking skills and has played a key role in my professional development. During my trip to Spain, I stayed with a host family and interacted with many students at USAL, especially from Brazil. We exchanged languages, teaching each other English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and have stayed in touch since. I would have never thought it was possible to learn Portuguese if it was not for studying abroad. Studying abroad strengthened by ability to communicate in Spanish."

The image shows two people on a dirt road in a rural area with large rocky hills in the background; one person is standing and holding the other horizontally. The person being held is wearing a red shirt and black shorts, while the person holding them is dressed in gray. They both have wide smiles.

Alex Knight

England (2019), Cuba (2018)

"Immersing myself in these different cultures provided me with some invaluable skills such as adaptability, problem solving in unfamiliar environments, and cross-cultural communication. These have made me more versatile and open-minded in my career. These experiences also helped me to personally grow in building my confidence, independence, and adaptability."

The image shows Sherita Cash standing outdoors, leaning on a metal railing with a vast green landscape and water body in the background. She is wearing a black cardigan over a white top, has braided hair styled up, and carries a crossbody bag strap across her chest.

"Your wallet doesn't have to be fat to take this leap! Pack your smile first – it's your universal language! Every awkward moment? Future career gold! Trust this former confused foreigner turned educator: those study abroad moments will shape your future in ways you can't imagine. I turned my experiences into a career revolutionizing education, and you'll find your path too! Apply for those scholarships, talk to your study abroad office, and make it happen. The investment is priceless!"

Japan (2015), Italy (2013)

"My study abroad trip taught that I could handle myself anywhere in the world, even if I don’t know the language. Both trips were a culmination of everything I was learning in college. On these trips I communicated with different people, with different backgrounds, and had a great time in the process. Truly came back better each time."

Kayla Hogan standing outdoors in a lush, green environment holding a large bunch of unripe bananas still attached to the plant. She is wearing a blue shirt and is surrounded by dense foliage and sunlight filtering through the leaves.

"There's no better way to cultivate humility than to immerse yourself in other cultures and learn from others. It reinforced the importance of clear, concise communication, recognizing that diverse audiences interpret messages differently. This experience has been invaluable in my career, enabling me to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and effectively communicate with a wide range of recipients."

Elizabeth Canas wearing a straw hat, white t-shirt, and blue pants standing on a boat with water and a bridge in the background. She is leaning against the railing with both hands resting on it, and there is a brown crossbody bag hanging from her shoulder.

Elizabeth Canas

Chicago, Memphis, and New Orleans (2015 Communications Study Away)

"On the trip, we had to manage a blog about a designated topic. It was one of my first out-of-classroom experiences doing storytelling in the digital space. Little did I know my career path would lead me to social media and digital marketing —and that was such a valuable experience developing and managing all aspects of content creation."

The image shows Brenna Johnson standing in the doorway of a classic red British telephone booth on a sidewalk next to an ornate black iron fence.
