Office of Grant Development

Dr. Markowitz assists Cancer Center faculty with preparation of the scientific and other text sections of grant applications (extramural and intramural) for grammar, syntax, logic, clarity, transitions, and correct English phrasing. Please let Dr. Markowitz know in advance that you will be submitting a grant to her for editing so she can plan accordingly. Grants may be submitted in hard copy or electronically. There is no fee for this service.

Dr. Markowitz periodically teaches Grant Writing seminars that focus on how to write an NIH R01 type of grant. Recent Grant Writing 101 lectures can be accessed in the Researchers’ Toolbox. She is also available, upon request, for teaching Scientific Writing classes, with particular emphasis on writing for non-native English speakers.

The Office of Grant Development also assists in the preparation of Cancer Center institutional and multi-institutional grant applications and program project proposals.

Repository of Resources Text for Grants: This repository contains a collection of text from previous grants and other documents that you may find useful as you prepare your grants, particularly the Resources, Facilities, and Equipment sections.  Each section contains the source of the document and the date written.  Please be aware that some text may need updating or fine-tuning, depending on your needs.  Your JAG ID is required to access the repository.
