Our mission is to provide graduate level research scientists with the necessary didactic training, problem solving, communication, and professional skills necessary to become future leaders in research and education.

Skills are developed through state of the art laboratory research in a broad spectrum of experimental systems from molecules to whole body physiology and pathophysiology.

Research in the Physiology program specifically addresses diseases leading to significant human morbidity and mortality including hypertension, diabetes, obesity , and stroke.

Our goals are to train independent, creative, and productive scholars in the physiological sciences and to prepare students for successful careers spanning academia, government and industry.

Daria Ilatovskaya, PhD

"Physiology is at the forefront of answering any and every question facing us along the journey to understand health and disease. Being a physiologist to me means having the advantage to study life using an integrative and translatable approach that starts at the whole-body level, and then goes all the way to cellular and molecular mechanisms. Physiology Faculty collegially guide and support our trainees to ensure their success and development of critical thinking skills. We offer a very collaborative scientific environment, and plenty of opportunities for professional service and career growth. Join us and see for yourself!
