Established in 1999 in memory of Donna M. Fair, a professor and alumna of the MCG School of Nursing. Joining the Department of Adult Nursing in 1973, she taught medical surgical nursing and served as Coordinator of the Nursing Skills Laboratory during her tenure at the College of Nursing. Ms. Fair retired in 1995 and passed away in 1999. The endowment funds awards to students who demonstrate promise in specialty nursing fields important to Ms. Fair. Two students, one undergraduate and one graduate, will receive awards annually. The awards also consider leadership ability. The College of Nursing Alumni Association Board will determine the most deserving applicants and announce the recipients at the CON Alumni Event in April.

Award Amount: $1,000 | Available to: BSN and Graduate Nursing Students

Application Criteria:

You will be asked to submit an essay through the Academic Works application containing the following:

  • Submit an essay using APA discussing the following:
    • Your interest and/or involvement in a nursing career in the specialty areas of respiratory care, rehabilitation, adult medical or surgical intensive care units (ICU, CCU), emergency specialty care unit (acute and trauma), surgical specialty care (operating room), post anesthesia specialty area (recovery room) and or primary care nursing (ANP, FNP).
    • Describe their impact on the field of nursing and patient care.
  • One letter of recommendation from a faculty member discussing your leadership abilities
