The Branan Trust was created under the will of Charles I. Branan, who died in 1929. It is named in memory of his beloved mother, Mary Ellen Lindsey Brannan (born 1830-died 1915), who was left a widow with seven children. The scholarship is utilized to advance nursing research by facilitating the studies of a graduate nursing student who best demonstrates promise for exemplary research. The award will be determined by the recipient's academic record and clarity of research goals and may be given to more than one student per academic year. This award may be used by students for tuition, research, professional travel, or other expenses directly related to their program of study.

Award Amount: $2,000 | Available to: PhD Nursing Student(s)

** Must be Full Time (> 9 hours)

  • Submit an essay addressing the following:
    • Well-defined goals for doctoral study as evaluated by a personal statement; 
    • Evidence of outstanding professional contributions to the nursing profession and the health care arena with an emphasis on research potential and productivity as you progress in the program.
