Clinical Experience Block 8

The PCL Clinical Experience includes: Telemedicine Patient Experience Session, Clinical Procedures Session, and Ultrasound Session. 

Arrive no later than 12:50 p.m. on your scheduled PCL Clinical Experience session or you are at risk for losing professionalism points. Bring your personal computer and stethoscope.

Telemedicine Encounters (1:00 or 1:50 start) 

  • The interviewer will be conducting the encounter while the scribe observes.
  • Complete the SOAP Presentation Debrief Qualtrics form with a faculty member during your debrief session.

  • Review case with pathologic image with staff prior to leaving.

Telemedicine Patient Encounter

REFRESH

  • EMR: 
    • ACEMAPP requirements refer to email from Carvonne Hall once received
    • EPIC online Training
    • Obtain oneID (Help with oneID)
    • Set up Authenticator
    • Send an email to patientclinicalexperience@augusta.edu once you have successfully logged into EPIC
  • After completion of the above EMR training watch the below to further prepare specifically for our clinic:
    • EPIC login and setting up of your home screen
    • How to Start, Complete, and Forward your Telemedicine note
  • Send an email to patientclinicalexperience@augusta.edu once you have successfully logged into EPIC

PREWORK REQUIRED

  • Review your patient's medical history and prepare for your telehealth visit
  • Recommend reviewing and choosing a chronic renal/GU/endo chronic issue to review if possible (Example: DM, Hypothyroid, Incontinence, Recurrent UTI)
  • Review Note Template Documentation Video (recommend playing at 1.5-2X speed)
    • Review PCL Note Template with minor additions to assist with chronic disease / primary care note documentation 
    • Review SP Note from Block 7 NAFLD Example

POSTWORK 

  • Recorders must complete your patient's note by 5:00 PM the day after your patient encounter and sign/submit your note to Clinical Experience Preceptor and partner in a [secure] email. If this is not completed on time, you will lose professionalism points.
  • Once your note is sent to your Clinical Experience Preceptor, Recorder fill out Staff Documentation Qualtrics Survey to receive documentation feedback. 
  • Complete the  Class of 2028 PCL Clinical Experience Post-Visit Survey.  
  • If any of the above is not completed on time you will lose professionalism points.

POSTWORK

  • COMPLETE YOUR BLS MODULE OVER BREAK!!!!! Bring printed or electronic copy of your certificate with you in July.
    ▪ Will receive email from elearning.org
    ▪ You MUST do this even if you have a current BLS certification.
    ▪ If you do NOT complete your module and bring your certificate, you will have to re-do your practical experience with the AHA center (2ndfloor CJ) at a cost of $70 (paid by you).
  • You will complete your BLS checkoff on your assigned clinic day. You MUST sign up using the link associated with your clinic date before midnight on the day of your clinic.
