Clinical Experience Block 3 

The PCL Clinical Experience includes: Telemedicine Patient Experience Session, Clinical Procedures Session, and Ultrasound Session.

Block 3 OBJECTIVES AND ASSESSMENTS

Schedule of the Day

12:50 - 1:00PM	ZOOM ORIENTATION Make sure you use the QR Code to sign in!
1:00 - 2:30PM	Telemedicine Encounters (1:00 or 1:45 start)  M1 students will be conducting the visit as M2 students observe  Complete the SOAP Presentation Debrief Qualtrics form with a faculty member during your debrief session  AMWELL NOW      SOAP PRESENTATION DEBRIEF    CITRIX ACCESS    Clinical Procedures (1:00 or 1:45 start)  Save and email yourself a longitudinal image with needle in model vessel to upload into D2L (LONGITUDINAL NEEDLE USGIV)
2:30 - 4:00PM	Ultrasound the Knee M1s move to partner's room (room assignments are in the hallway) Obtain required images of the knee with your partner Ultrasound Debrief Survey    Ultrasound Image Upload

 

Telemedicine Patient Encounter                                        

REFRESH

• Review EMR training from Block 2
  • Watch the following Required EMR videos:                                                           
    • Medical Student Note Writing Video (Required to watch up to 10:45 then watch second video specific for when working with an M2)
    • Workflow for signing/submitting note in Cerner with M2 mentor (Must watch to 4:30)
    • All clinical experience EMR videos also under FAQ on website
    • Review PCL Note Template with additions specific for primary care and chronic conditions and Example Note that follows this template 

PREWORK

• Review your patient's medical history and prepare for your telemedicine visit
• Watch Old Dominion University Telehealth Physical Exams: Skin Video
• Watch Health Coaching (Medical Reconciliation): Techniques to Deliver Patient Centered Care Video
• Watch EMR Training Medicine Reconciliation Video
• Watch Introduction to Motivational Interviewing and complete your Motivational Interviewing Self Assessment   

POSTWORK 

• Complete your patient's note by 5:00 PM the day after your patient encounter and sign/submit your note to Clinical Experience Preceptor for signature and your M2 and PCL preceptor as a reviewer.  If have SP encounter, send note to M2 and PCL preceptor in email for feedback.  If this is not completed on time, you will lose professionalism points.
• Complete the Class of 2027 PCL Clinical Experience Post-Visit Survey If this is not completed on time, you will lose professionalism points.
