Clinical Experience Block 2 

The PCL Clinical Experience includes: Telemedicine Patient Encounter Session, Clinical Procedures Session, and Ultrasound Session.

BLOCK 2 OBJECTIVES AND ASSESSMENTS

Schedule of the day 

12:50 - 1:00PM	ZOOM ORIENTATION Make sure you use the QR Code to sign in!
1:00 - 2:30PM	Telemedicine Encounters (1:00 or 1:45 start)  M1 students will be conducting the visit as M2 students observe  Complete the SOAP Presentation Debrief Qualtrics form with a faculty member during your debrief session  AMWELL NOW    Debrief Feedback      CITRIX ACCESS  Clinical Procedures (1:00 or 1:45 start)  M2 Students will be reviewing vital sign assessment with their M1 mentees  Fill out the provided vitals sheet while discussing correct methods, possible errors, and masked vs white coat hypertension
2:40 - 3:15PM	M1 Ultrasound Time  M1 students will be scanning the shoulder and the brachial artery & vein  Students must send themselves a video of brachial vein compression with their name on it to submit to D2L for their post quiz M2 students should complete the Block 2 Image Debrief Qualtrics Form while reviewing images with their mentee  M1 Students should complete their Willingness Survey to indicate whether they consent to being scanned during future PCL Clinical Experiences  M1 IMAGE DEBRIEF    WILLINGNESS SURVEY    ULTRASOUND IMAGE UPLOAD
3:15 - 4:00PM	M2 Ultrasound Time  M2 students will be obtaining the 2nd half of the RUSH exam (FAST + AAA)  Save loops of your images to review with a faculty member. You do not need to label any structures!  Fill out the RUSH Block 11 Image Debrief Qualtrics form with faculty as you review your images  M2 IMAGE DEBRIEF

Telemedicine - Patient Encounter

REFRESH

• Review EMR overview training from Week 3 of PCL.
• Review PCL Note Template with additions specific for primary care and chronic conditions and Example Note that follows this template

PREWORK

• Review your patient's medical history and prepare for your telehealth visit
• Watch the following EMR videos
  • Required
    • Medical Student Note Writing (required to watch till 10:45 then watch second video specific for when working with an M2)
    • Workflow for signing/submitting note in Cerner with M2 mentor (must watch to 4:30)
  • Recommended but not required (will revisit most as required prework throughout the year)

POSTWORK

• Complete your patient's note by 5:00 PM the day after your patient encounter and sign/submit your note to Clinical Experience Preceptor for signature and your M2 and PCL preceptor as a reviewer. If have SP encounter, send note to M2 and PCL preceptor in email for feedback. If this is not completed on time, you will lose professionalism points.
• Complete the Class of 2027 PCL Clinical Experience Post-Visit Survey If this is not completed on time, you will lose professionalism points.
