For Spring and Fall 2021 Entry Term

Admissions Checklist

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university. To be used to satisfy degree requirement, evaluation of foreign educational transcripts must show degree(s) earned that are the U.S. equivalency of degree(s) required by the program.

Official transcripts are required from all universities and colleges ever attended. Only in the case of transcripts from international colleges/universities will an official course-by-course transcript evaluation be accepted in lieu of an official transcript. Official transcripts should be sent to Augusta University's Office of Academic Admissions.

To remain official, all transcripts must remain in the original, unopened, sealed and stamped/signed envelope from the Registrar's office of the issuing institution. Alternatively, Augusta University will accept official electronic transcripts from the registrar's office at your prior institution.

An official, professional course-by-course evaluation based on official transcripts and documents is required for all foreign educational transcripts and documents from one of the following three credentials evaluation services: Josef Silny & Associates, Inc., World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE). Silny and WES are recommended. Official transcript evaluations based on unofficial transcripts, documents or copies will not fulfill this requirement.

Please allow three (3) weeks or more from the order date for the evaluation to be delivered. Early requests for transcripts is strongly advised to ensure a completed application file before the deadline

Recommendations (which include a reference form and letter of recommendation) from three individuals are required. Referees should be individuals qualified to critically assess the applicant's prior academic (usually college professors), employment, artistic, research and/or clinical experience (clinical or research supervisor/manager) and qualifications (as applicable) as well as the applicant's potential as a graduate student in the field/program selected. Early requests for references is strongly advised to ensure a completed application file before the deadline.

Recommendations can be submitted online only. Within the application, you will provide the names and current email addresses for three individuals you have asked to serve as your recommenders. Once your application is submitted, each recommender will receive an email notification directing them to the online site where they can complete their recommendation. To change a recommender after the application has been submitted, log into your ApplyWeb (collegeNet) account and make updates. Status updates of your recommenders' submissions will be provided to you directly from ApplyWeb (CollegeNet).

GMAT/GRE/MCAT/DAT exam scores for applicants will be optional for the Spring 2021 and Fall 2021 entry terms as a consequence of challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. The absence of GMAT/GRE/MCAT/DAT scores will not be considered as negative by the admission committee.


The official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test scores are required for applicants whose first language is not English.  The TOEFL exam must be taken within 2 years of the date of application.

The Augusta University institution code for submission of TOEFL scores is 5406. Please do not select a department code.

The minimum scores are:

  • 213 computer-based
  • 79 internet-based
  • No minimum for the revised paper- delivered test 

    An early testing date is strongly advised (please allow three (3) weeks or more) to ensure a completed application file before the deadline.

    Exemption from the TOEFL requirement is allowed for graduate students who submit proof of earning a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college/university where English is the language of instruction. Recent graduates of a Bachelor of Business Administration program are strongly encouraged to gain professional work experience before entering our program.


AU Faculty Members
If you are a current, full time faculty member at the rank of Instructor or higher at Augusta University applying to a “lower-ranked” degree (examples include: PhD, MD, DMD, professional doctorate (DNP, DPT etc), or EdSpec etc applying to a Master level degree), you may request to have your academic documents that are on file in Human Resources transferred to the Office of Academic Admissions ( to be considered to fulfill your application document requirements. 

 Please send an email to with a request to send your transcript(s), proof of degree and other academic documents (specify) needed for your student application directly to the Office of Academic Admissions ( For applicants with international degrees, a transcript evaluation, credential verification and/or credential evaluation should be transferred to the Office of Academic Admissions (, in addition to transcripts.   

Programs/Colleges/TGS maintain the right to request additional or official documentation if documents on file in Human Resources (or Faculty Affairs) are not complete, appropriate or sufficient.

Proof of Lawful Presence 
In accordance with Board of Regents Policy 4.1.6, all applicants for admission to Augusta University are required to provide validation of lawful presence in the United States. Acceptance to Augusta University is conditional until lawful presence is verified. ALL applicants who are US Citizens must submit documentation that verifies his/her lawful presence in the United States at time of application to the Office of Admissions.

Application Review 

The program/academic college for which you are applying will review your application and supporting documents. Interviews will be scheduled and considered, as applicable to individual programs. Taken together, the whole of your application should demonstrate substantial preparation for graduate study in the field for which you are seeking admittance. 

Decision Notification 
Upon recommendation of the program/academic college, The Graduate School will review your credentials and applicant profile and make a formal, official decision for your admittance. Official notice of your admission can only come from the Dean of The Graduate School via notification from Augusta University's Office of Academic Admissions.
