Augusta University is involved in nearly 300 different funded research activities and related studies in its Colleges of Allied Health Sciences, Dental Medicine, Graduate Studies, Medicine and Nursing. Research is carried out in both basic and clinical disciplines.

Georgia Cancer Center

Our team of basic science researchers, clinicians, radiation oncologists, nurse navigators and patient support staff work together to create a community fostering innovation and care focused on improving the lives of our patients.

 

Center for Bioethics & Health Policy

We conduct novel interdisciplinary research to help promote human health and well-being, provide comprehensive ethical and policy support for clinical services, and offer educational programs on clinical care and public health.

 

Center for Biotechnology & Genomic Medicine

We promote interdisciplinary and translational research in Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine with the ultimate goal of promoting predictive, preventive, personalized and participatory medicine.

 

Center for Blood Disorders

Our goal is to improve quality of life for people with blood disorders through comprehensive care, addressing the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of our patients and their families.

 

Center for Nursing Research

Our center advances the College of Nursing research and scholarship mission by facilitating faculty and student efforts to obtain external funding to support research, educational, and service demonstration projects.

 

Center for Healthy Aging

The Center for Healthy Aging is the only center of its kind in the Southeast that integrates research and clinical expertise in musculoskeletal, neurological, and orofacial repair to address critical unmet needs in the treatment and management of traumatic injury and degenerative disease.

 

Center for Excellence in Research, Scholarship, and Innovation

The Dental College of Georgia works in collaboration with other units of Augusta University and the University System of Georgia to perform innovative, multidisciplinary research in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and oral health related diseases.

 

Interdisciplinary Simulation Center

The Interdisciplinary Simulation Center is the primary healthcare simulation resource for the healthcare training programs of Augusta University. We serve many different disciplines including nursing, medicine, allied health, and dentistry.

 

Immunology Center of Georgia

The Immunology Center of Georgia seeks to understand the role of the immune system in the progression and prevention of disease. We are focused on integrating our efforts with the other centers and institutes at Augusta University in an endeavor to improve all aspects of human health.

The GPI works to support the community through innovative research with the goal of better understanding and preventing some of our state and nation’s top killers – like cardiovascular disease and obesity.

 

James and Jean Culver Vision Discovery Institute

The Culver Vision Discovery Institute engages in high impact research and discovery related to visual function and disease, which is expected to have far-reaching clinical applications for patients suffering from blindness and visual disorders.
