Biology is perhaps the most diverse of all academic disciplines because it includes so many different fields such as genetics, ecology, cell biology, botany, evolutionary biology, molecular biology, zoology, marine biology, microbiology, herpetology, physiology, and many others. Fortunately, we have a diverse faculty who deliver coursework and research experiences in each of these areas. These courses and research take place not only in our laboratories, but also along the Georgia and South Carolina coasts, and internationally through our study abroad program.
By these experiences students at Augusta University are exposed to the true diversity of the field of Biological Sciences. And for those who wish to specialize, students may choose to major in Biology, or in Cell and Molecular Biology, or in Ecology with courses designed specifically for each major. In addition, there are opportunities for students to become directly involved in faculty-directed research projects ranging from cancer biology to ecology.

together along with all the many great opportunities for students here in the Department
of Biological Sciences at Augusta University.
