Applications verified/completed after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis only. 

The MSN to DNP degree program is offered for nurses with a Master in Nursing who have a national advanced practice certification as a nurse practitioner (NP), nurse anesthetist (NP), nurse midwife (NMW), or clinical nurse specialist (CNS). This program educates advanced nurse clinicians for expert practice in leadership and clinical roles. This doctoral-level education provides nurses the clinical and management expertise to improve health care outcomes, making them expert collaborators in solving health care problems in systems.

This program is 37 credit hours and may be completed in full-time or part-time study, allowing the opportunity to work while attending school. The program is approved by the Georgia Board of Regents as a web-based program with one or two Augusta campus visits. The MSN to DNP program is available fully 100% online with courses presented asynchronously and does not require on-campus presence for the successful completion of the program.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Augusta University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

The DNP curriculum for the Post-Masters DNP students integrates synchronous and asynchronous online didactic instruction that is reinforced through the students DNP projects.

The DNP core courses provide the foundation of health care policy, evidence-based practice, leadership and systems management that prepares the advanced practice nurse to deliver optimal care in the ever-changing health care environment.

  • Professional Practice: Utilizes the competencies of an advanced practice expert to design, implement and evaluate evidence based care within specialty.
  • Evaluate and apply theories and research findings to the advanced practice of nursing.
  • Collaborate with health care providers and consumers to design and initiate strategies to influence the nature and outcomes of health care services.
  • Engage in advanced practice based on legal and ethical principles and professional standards of practice

Scholarships

The College of Nursing is pleased to offer several scholarships to current undergraduate and graduate Nursing students.

The criteria for each fund is determined by the donor and is available upon inquiry. The availability of funds is variable. Students seeking financial assistance should complete an application form at the Financial Aid Office as well as provide required information specific to the scholarship to the College of Nursing.

AU Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP)

Funded by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), this loan program allows forgiveness of up to 85% of the amount borrowed by graduate nursing students. The opportunity is available to PhD and Post-Masters DNP students who agree to serve as a full-time faculty member for four consecutive years following their graduation. NFLP is available on a  first-come first-serve basis to students who are in good academic standing. The purpose of NFLP is to provide graduates financial relief while developing them as nurse educators and champions of the profession.
