In order to earn a minor in physics, you must take at least 19 semester hours in physics. These 19 hours must include PHYS 2211 and 2212 (8 hours total), and another 11 hours from the approved physics curriculum listed below:

The Physics Curriculum:

  • PHYS 3011 and 3012 (Electronics I and II)
  • PHYS 3040 (Optics)
  • PHYS 3250 (Theoretical Mechanics)
  • PHYS 3260 (Computational Physics)
  • PHYS 4051 and 4052 (Electromagnetic Theory I and II)
  • PHYS 4310 (Thermal Physics)
  • PHYS 4530 (Mathematical Methods of Physics)
  • PHYS 4511 (Modern Physics)
  • PHYS 4512 (Quantum Physics)

Because many students decide they want to complete a minor in physics after taking the introductory physics sequence, PHYS 1111 and PHYS 1112 can be substituted for PHYS 2211 and 2212.
