In October, Dr. Jay Dunn, our newest faculty member in Physics, gave a presentation
as part of the Arsenal Lecture Series, which is sponsored each year by the ASU Chapter
of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. The presentation, which focused on Dr. Dunn’s
astronomy research, was attended by approximately 100 people and featured many amazing
photos. The presentation was also covered by Jillian Hobday, a reporter for the ASU
Bell Ringer newspaper. Dr. Dunn spoke about the outflows seen in Quasars and Active
Galaxies, which deals with relating the Supermassive Black Hole to its host galaxy.
Although this is just his first semester at ASU, Dr. Dunn already has two students
assisting him with his research, and is looking for additional students who are interested
in assisting him with development of new astronomy labs.
