Orientation FAQ's

Can I bring a guest to orientation?

Yes, each incoming student is allowed to bring guests with them to the orientation program for a separate fee. This cost is posted on the Family information page; ages 4 and under are free. This program is designed for adults as information is given in presentation format. You are encouraged to find child care for young children, so you may focus on the information given to you.

Guests are to be registered with the student and pay on the orientation payment site. Please know that during parts of the orientation program, students and guests will be separated for two different programs throughout the day.

Can I change my orientation date, add a guest, or anything associated with registration once completed?

Yes, you may update your reservation anytime before the Friday leading up to your Orientation. This process is straightforward, and can be completed in your Enrollment Portal!

Why is there a cost to attend orientation?

Each semester, time and resources are put forth to offer each student, parent, family member, guest and supporter the services they need in order to have a welcoming learning experience. The cost of those services are broken down and factored into the cost of each student and guest attending orientation.

Do I have to pay to participate in orientation?

Yes, each student and guest will be charged an Orientation Fee. To pay, you will need to log back in to your Student Status Portal and pay the Registration fee listed.

We accept a web check, Discover, Visa, and MasterCard.

Are there orientation fee waivers?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer fee waivers for our programs. Augusta University's orientation program is fully sustained through participant fees. These fees fund everything from the informational materials you receive before attending to the student orientation leaders who help welcome new students to campus. The university requires these fees to maintain a quality orientation experience that effectively introduces students to campus life.

Can I leave orientation before its conclusion?

When you register for a specific orientation date, please make sure that you can stay for the full day. Vital information is given at orientation that will help you succeed at Augusta University, so please plan to stay the entire day and make travel arrangements accordingly. If it is not possible for you to remain at a specific orientation for its entirety, then you should consider an alternate orientation date.

Each incoming student has a pre-assigned orientation hold on his/her account. If you do not attend orientation or do not stay the entire program, this hold will remain on your account and you will not be able to register for classes.

If an emergency arises right before orientation, please alert our office via email at orientation@augusta.edu. If something happens the day of, please alert your Orientation Leader or call our office at 706-737-1610.

What are the benefits of living in campus housing?

Living in campus housing is a unique experience that allows students to meet new people and explore new ideas and ways of relating to others.

On campus living is a vital part of the educational experience in which residents are encouraged to assume responsibility, both individually and as a group. Research indicates that students who live in campus housing are more satisfied with their college experience, perform stronger academically and are more likely to graduate within four years.
