Director of Military and Veterans Service
Carol Giardina completed a B.A. in International Business/ Studies in 1991 and the M. Ed., Counseling at Wichita State University in 1993 while employed as an admissions officer. She is the Director of Military and Veterans Services at Augusta University. Prior to accepting her current position, Carol served as the Acting Director and Associate Director of Admissions at Augusta State University (1995-2012). Although Carol never enlisted, she was a military daughter and mother. She is the proud grandmother of a Navy man and feels that all service members and veterans are our parents, children and grandchildren.
MVS Fort Gordon Site Coordinator
Alejandra Miles is originally from Mexico but has been in the CSRA area for over 3 years. Alejandra is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration from Georgia Southern and holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Texas A&M. Alejandra’s focus is non-traditional students to include active duty and military affiliated families. She’s passionate about mentoring and helping others achieve their life/academic goals.

LaJoi Sims is from Martinez, Georgia where she has lived most of her life. LaJoi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Georgia and is currently pursuing a Master of Education degree in Higher Education Administration from Georgia Southern. Lajoi attributes a great level of personal and academic transformation to her college experience and is passionate about supporting prospective and current students along that journey.
Military Student Records Supervisor
Anna Hargis is a graduate of the University of South Carolina-Aiken, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Master of Business Administration. Prior to working at Augusta University, she worked at Regions Bank in Aiken, SC and Johnston, SC as a teller and branch service leader. As the primary VA School Certifying Official at Augusta University, Anna is responsible for reconciling the office VA account, billing tuition and fees to the VA, and assisting students with questions about their benefits. Anna is proud of all her family members who serve/served in the military, including her husband (SC Air National Guard), father (Army), brother (Marines, Army) and grandfather (Navy).
Military Student Records Coordinator
Amanda Johnston is a graduate from University of South Carolina- Aiken where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She started her career at Augusta University in 2014 working in the Bursar’s Office and then took a position in the Office of Military and Veterans Services where she is currently a VA School Certifying Official and assists students that use Post 9/11, Vocational Rehabilitation, Chapter 1606, and the HPSP scholarship from all branches of service. She enjoys assisting veterans and active duty service members in furthering their education. Outside of Augusta University, Amanda enjoys activities that pertain to the outdoors.
