Move-In FAQs

Q. Are my belongings insured while I’m living on-campus?
Housing and Residence Life does not purchase property insurance to cover any loss or damage to an individual’s personal property, and Augusta University or Corvias assumes no responsibility for covering such loss. Please check with your homeowner’s insurance policy to see if your items are covered through that plan.

The university DOES NOT accept liability for damage or theft of personal property of Housing students.  Coverage through home-owner’s insurance or purchase of rental coverage is highly recommended.

Q. What should I pack?
Visit the “What to Bring” section of the Move-In page.

Q. Can I bring my bike?
Bicycles are permitted as long as they are appropriately stored on the bike racks located outside in the Jaguar Park area.  Be sure to purchase a lock to secure your bike.  

Q. Is storage space available?
Not on campus.  

Q. When does my meal plan begin?
Meal plans start with dinner on Saturday, August 11, 2018.

Q. What will I be expected to do after I move in?
We kick off your transformational housing experience with the opening of ROAR Camp Saturday evening!

Q. How do I get to Augusta University and find Oak Hall?
You can find links to directions and approach map in the MAPS section. Be sure to follow signs, and be aware that GPS devices aren’t always accurate.

Q. Do I have to move in during my selected move-in time?
Yes.  If you run into an issue on Move-In Day that delays your arrival, such as car trouble, please contact the Housing and Residence Life Office at 706-729-2300.  The staff will adjust your move-in time for a later arrival.

Q. Can I move in early?
No.  Only those who have program requirements are permitted to move in early.  If there is an extenuating circumstance requiring you to move in early, you will need to submit the request at

Q. Can I shop for my room once I get to campus?
Of course!  Many families, particularly those traveling from a distance, wait until they get to Augusta before buying items such as bedding, towels, storage containers, school supplies, and basic toiletries.  

Q. Can I rearrange the furniture in my room?
Yes. All standard Housing and Residence Life furniture must stay inside the assigned space at all times. Prior to Move-Out, residents must place all furniture back to its' original location. Furniture can be bunked by submitting a work order via the Housing and Residence Life website after Move-In. All roommates must agree to bunking beds prior to submitting the work order request. Maintenance staff will facilitate bunking beds with proper tools.

Q. Can I bring my pet to Move-In?
Pets are not allowed inside any Housing and Residence Life communities.
