Admissions Requirements

To be considered for admission to the online MS in Information Security Management program, the following items must be submitted with your application:

  • Official transcripts from all universities and colleges attended showing that you’ve earned a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university
  • Three formal letters of recommendation
  • Resume/CV
  • Proof of Lawful Presence: According to Policy 4.3.4 of the University System of Georgia, any student requesting to pay at the in-state tuition rate will be required to provide verification of their lawful presence in the United States in order to be classified as an in-state student or awarded an out-of-state tuition waiver.

There are no strict standardized test or GPA requirements. Each application will be reviewed, and an admissions decision will be rendered based on all elements of the application.

Program Recommendations

The online master’s in information security management program has two tracks or concentrations, technical and management, each of which has its own requirements.

Technical Track: Students pursuing the technical track are expected to have an undergraduate degree in a technical field (e.g., information technology, computer science, computer engineering) or a strong professional background in related technology.

Management Track: The management track is designed to teach management skills along with technical skills. Students pursuing the management track do not need a technical undergraduate degree. However, to increase their employment opportunities, students without technical undergraduate degrees should possess technical skills from other sources (e.g., certifications, work experience). Speak to your adviser about your situation if you have no or little technical skills.
