Augusta University leaders meet to workshop current and future programs
More than 40 leaders from across Augusta University met for a collaborative workshop to review the university’s program portfolio.
The Faculty Senate (AUFS) is an essential component of University shared governance. It is composed of Senators elected by each college, who represent the faculty of their college. Senators keep in touch with their constituent faculty so they can truly represent them at Senate meetings and keep them informed.
We represent faculty in shared governance as practiced at Augusta University.
The principle and practice of collaboration between administration, faculty, staff, and students in fulfilling the mission of Augusta University, based on collegiality, inclusivity, trust, accountability, and transparency (AUFS Executive Committee, July 2021).
Senate members are called on to:
Access the central repository for university-level policies and procedures.
Set of rules and guidelines of the Faculty Senate; Bylaws are reviewed every three years and voted upon by the AUFS.
The Statutes define the organizational structure of the university and its governance bodies.

This year also marks a transition year for the Senate as it implements its new bylaws.
“A comprehensive and ongoing policy process is a critical component of creating and supporting a culture of ethics and integrity, which reflects our mission and values,” said Chris Melcher, vice president and general counsel for Augusta University.
