“Let’s Talk” is a free drop-in service that gives Augusta University students the chance to speak informally with a staff counselor or counseling intern from Student Counseling & Psychological Services (SCAPS). During the confidential consultation, a counselor or counseling intern will listen to your specific problems, help you explore solutions, and introduce you to what it’s like to speak with a therapist. Developed by Cornell University, “Let’s Talk” is nationally recognized for its success in increasing student access to mental health care. It has been adopted by universities and colleges nationwide.
“Let’s Talk” consultations will be offered on the Summerville and Health Sciences campuses throughout the fall semester. Dates and times coming soon!

Who shouldn't visit “Let's Talk”?
I think I have a problem that could be addressed in counseling, but I don't know anything about counseling. Would going to “Let's Talk” help me figure out what to do?
Yes, the “Let's Talk” counselor or counseling intern will talk through your issue with you and help you determine the best way to get help. If you feel comfortable with the counselor or counseling intern, you might request to meet with them at SCAPS for brief individual counseling.
What else do I need to know?
“Let's Talk” is not a substitute for psychotherapy or formal counseling and does not constitute mental health treatment. “Let's Talk” counselors provide informal consultations to help students with specific problems and to introduce them to what it's like to speak with a counselor. Your counselor or counseling intern can help you determine whether additional SCAPS services would be useful for you and assist you in scheduling an appointment.
