"This is an award for #strongaugusta, an award for the community of Augusta, Georgia, and the outlying communities that have joined us," says John Ryan.

The new campus is the first in the Atlanta area for MCG and is the sixth two-year regional campus.
In 2023, MCG sent the first dedicated group of 17 students to Kennestone to complete all required core clinical clerkships.
In January of this year, MCG received official recognition from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, solidifying the Atlanta campus as an accredited and permanent part of MCG’s statewide medical education landscape.
Located 25 minutes northwest of Atlanta, Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center is one of the largest and most advanced hospitals in the state, serving as a transfer center for nearby Georgia counties and equipped with a state-of-the-art continuity clinic.
Augusta University’s Medical College of Georgia officially launched its newest two-year clinical campus Tuesday at Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center. The campus is MCG’s first in the Atlanta area.
The celebration of the new campus–known as MCG Atlanta at Wellstar Health System–marked a bold step forward in expanding medical education into the heart of Metro Atlanta, where 48 third- and fourth-year students will now live, learn and care for patients as part of their training.
Their areas of focus will include internal and family medicine, pediatrics, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry and neurology.

Our residents can choose from a broad spectrum of specialties offered across four state-of-the-art medical centers. No matter which type of medicine you plan to practice, Wellstar residency programs provide exceptional instruction and experience.

"This is an award for #strongaugusta, an award for the community of Augusta, Georgia, and the outlying communities that have joined us," says John Ryan.

Sponsored by the College of Nursing, Augusta University colleges, departments, and community organization joined together to provide the 21st day of wellness to the workers of Costa Farms.

"I believe one of the most important things we can do as leaders is get out, listen and learn from the people and communities we serve," says AU President Russell T. Keen.

Wellstar MCG Health recently became the first hospital in Georgia to offer in-house risk assessment testing for severe preeclampsia.
