Hello! I am Axel Baez-Lugo, born and raised in Puerto Rico. Graduated Pre-Med from UPR-Mayaguez Campus and then Medical School from Ponce Health Sciences University. In my free time I enjoy watching movies or series and basketball games. I enjoy going to the gym, running or trail walking with my kids (two dogs). Although still new to this, I have a growing interest in Headache Medicine and Pain Management. I am very happy to be a part of this team full of excellent human beings and great teaching staff. I attended Texas A&M University for undergraduate and University of Texas at Houston for medical school. I am looking forward to my time in Augusta at MCG.

Hi! My name is Shalane. I was born and raised in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. I did my undergrad at the University of Puerto Rico and subsequently attended Ponce Health Sciences University to pursue my MPH as well as my Medical Degree.  In my free time,  I enjoy spending time with loved ones, going to the beach with my dogs, and trying out new places to eat. Although I love everything that neurology has to offer, I could potentially see myself sub-specializing in Sleep Medicine. I am thrilled to be part of the MCG family and look forward to making memories with my co-residents and faculty. 

Hi! I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I studied Biomedical Engineering at Duke University before performing neuroscience research at the NIH for a year prior to starting medical school at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. When I'm not at work, I love to play basketball, work-out, hike, travel and snowboard! My crowning achievement is playing in the IM basketball finals in Cameron Indoor Stadium at Duke during my freshman year! I'm currently exploring my interests in Neurology!

Hey! My name is Brian and I'm super excited to be a PGY1 in Neurology! I'm from Atlanta, GA. When I'm not in the hospital, I can probably be found at the gym or chilling with friends. I haven't quite decided what I'm going to do in neurology yet, but I can't wait to explore all the different parts of neurology and find my own path! Some fun facts about me - back in undergrad, I was a lion dancer! I've also done a lot of various martial arts over the years and have a black belt in Taekwondo.

Hi! My name is Sean “Seungsu” Lee. I was born and raised in South Korea. I went to Emory for undergrad and then went to Medical College of Georgia for med school. I am really excited to continue my training at MCG where I developed my passion for neurology. Neurology was my first clinical rotation, so starting the first day of my residency in the same room I was at two years ago was a very unique and amazing feeling. I haven’t decided what I want to do for subspecialties yet, but I would like to practice in Georgia in the future after fellowship. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, watching soccer (support Chelsea FC), and exploring new restaurants, to the point that before starting med school, I traveled around Europe by myself for 6 weeks, visiting all the major soccer stadiums and enjoying local cuisine.

Hello! My name is Natalia and I’m a PGY2! Really excited to finally dig in deeper into the amazing world of Neurology. I was born and raised in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Graduated from the Univ Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine and later did a rotatory internship in Puerto Rico. My interests include cooking, working out, playing with my dog (his name is Epi, you’d love him) and spending time with my family. I would like to later on pursue a fellowship in Multiple Sclerosis. Dr. Ojochide Shaibu took the unconventional route to medicine: He initially considered a life in catholic priesthood, however felt called to serve in medicine. Cumulative life experiences made him choose specialization in neurology.

Dr shaibu was born in San Francisco, CA. But spent his childhood and teenage years in Nigeria, West Africa. He obtained an Associate of Science degree in Nursing from Polk State College, Winter Haven, Florida. A Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from The University of Central Florida, and Doctor of Medicine, highest honors, from Ross University School of Medicine.

He spends his free time with family, traveling, dancing, and playing soccer.

Dr Shaibu aspires to serve as an Interventional neurologist while advancing knowledge in the field of neurology.

I was born and raised in Kingston, TN. I went to medical school at Lincoln Memorial University and undergrad at East Tennessee State University. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy doing any type of outdoors activity, whether that be running, swimming, or hiking. I also like to travel and hope to do more of that after residency.

Originally from Sudan but brought up and raised in different countries. I graduated from Khartoum College of Medical Sciences. I have done research work on cerebrovascular disorder, including clinical and international health stroke research at Northwestern University in Chicago,IL. General Neurology and all subspecialties  are always fascinating to me. I find myself interested in Neuro critical care, Vascular, Interventional Neurology and TBI, with a goal to pursue Neuro-critical care. I spend my free time playing basketball, reading books(nonfiction-psycho/social), biking  and also enjoy throwing BBQs. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for questions.

I was born and raised near Savannah, GA where I also received my bachelor's degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University.  I am a graduate of Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA.  My goals include completing a fellowship in movement disorders and possibly a career in academic medicine.  My favorite hobbies include reading, trying new baking recipes, and watching musicals.  In my time off, I enjoy road trips, hiking, going to the beach, and spending time with my husband and our dog.

I was born in Mumbai, India. I attended medical school at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medical College Hospital in Bangalore, India. Later, I assisted in Movement disorder research at University of Cincinnati. I am particularly fascinated by interventional neuroradiology, Movement disorders and neuro-oncology. My other interests include playing and watching cricket, playing video games, watching movies, cooking, and spending time with my family and friends but currently my only interest seems to be treating sick patients. I also like travelling and exploring new places and plan to travel as much as possible during my vacations.

I am from Zionsville, Indiana and earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering at Cornell University. I went to Texas Tech University for medical school where I discovered my passion for Neurology. I enjoy rock climbing with my husband and playing frisbee with my two australian shepherds.

I was born and raised in Knoxville, TN.  Homeschooled until I went to college at a wonderful little school called Maryville College, and then attended the University of Tennessee for medical school. I’m a diehard Volunteer Football fan, have three super cool little siblings, a really great mommy, and spend absolutely all my money on books. I want to do a memory fellowship, eventually go home and help the impoverished Appalachian population. Go to law school someday and work on getting health policy changed. I love the outdoors and the heat, especially the beach. Christmas is my favorite holiday, watermelon my favorite food, and there’s absolutely no way I could pick a favorite book. I was born and brought up in Punjab, India. I went to medical school at Government Medical College, Punjab, currently doing my Internship at Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. I am interested in Pain medicine and Neuro - Oncology. I enjoy running, travelling and listening to music. I would like to attend all the major music festivals all over the world. (though I am a resident now)

I was born in Atlanta and raised in the Philadelphia suburbs.  My interest in neurology began during undergrad at the University of Pennsylvania while working with epilepsy patients in the Kahana Computational Memory Lab.  During medical school at Emory, I was drawn to Pediatrics as well as neurology, so I focused my research on neurodevelopmental outcomes among children with single ventricle physiology.  Due to my interests, I pursued the child neurology program at MCG, which will train me to care for patients with neurologic disease from birth through adulthood.  In my free time, I enjoy hanging with my co-residents, playing drums and guitar, and improving my vegetarian cooking skills.

I am from North Augusta, SC, and I earned my medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. My subspecialty interests at this time include neurophysiology, epilepsy, and neuroimmunology. When I’m not busy with residency, I enjoy spending time with my wife and family, working out, reading, and watching college football.

I came to MCG at Augusta University in 2017 after earning a medical doctorate from Ross University School of Medicine. Prior to starting medical school in 2013, I spent 6 years in basic science research at the Medical University of South Carolina. That research led to a master's degree in biomedical science and multiple publications in traumatic CNS injury, neurodegenerative disease, and glioblastoma therapy. I have greatly enjoyed my residency experience at MCG. As one of the chief residents for 2020-21 academic year, I am working to improve resident education and expand resident access to research offered here at MCG. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son walking the greenways, playing soccer, or seeking out trivia in Augusta. We will be moving to Tampa, FL at the end of residency for a 1-year fellowship in Neuro-oncology at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center.
