Pediatric and Neonatal Critical Care Transport (PNCCT)

Pediatric and Neonatal Critical Care Transport program is an intensive 84 (eighty four) hour course held in Augusta, Georgia at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University Center of Operational Medicine two times per year. The course is designed to bring paramedics and nurses together in an effort to bridge the gap between prehospital and hospital care. Upon successful completion of the course, students are considered specialized care providers that have an understanding of all aspects of pediatric and neonatal patient care enabling them to provide the highest level of care to critical patients during transport.

Students will:

  • Gain an understanding of the special needs of pediatric and neonatal critical patients during transport.
  • Become familiar with the critical care procedures and equipment.
  • Develop the skills necessary to maintain the stability of the critical care patient during transport.

Prerequisites:

  • Currently licensed paramedic, RN, RRT, MD, or DO with a recommended one (1) year experience in that role. 
  • A copy of current CPR and PALS/PEPP or ENPC cards.

 The Pediatric and Neonatal Critical Care Transport (PNCCT) program is owned by the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Augusta University Center of Operational Medicine is the regional Education Site License (ESL) coordinator for the UMBC PNCCT program.
