The Specialized Tactics for Operational Rescue and Medicine (STORM) program provides
advanced Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) education and operational training
for healthcare providers, EMS personnel, law enforcement officers, and public safety
teams operating in high-risk environments.
STORM courses are built on nationally recognized, evidence-based standards and emphasize
practical application, operational readiness, and team-based medical response in tactical
environments. Training incorporates the core competency domains established by the
National TEMS Council (NTEMSC) and focuses on the integration of medicine, public
safety operations, leadership, communication, and mission support during critical
incidents.
The Center of Operational Medicine (COM) at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta
University has extensive experience supporting tactical medicine operations, law enforcement
training, and operational medical education. COM faculty and instructors include emergency
physicians, paramedics, tactical medics, military personnel, and operational medicine
specialists with backgrounds in SWAT operations, special operations medicine, prehospital
critical care, and public safety response.
STORM training is designed to prepare providers to operate effectively in dynamic
and austere environments while delivering high-quality medical care under operational
conditions. Courses combine classroom instruction, scenario-based exercises, field
operations, and multidisciplinary teamwork to create realistic and mission-focused
training experiences.
