Curriculum Overview

Augusta University Online’s MEd program in Instruction requires students to complete 30 credit hours. 

The program requirements include 15 hours of core courses in the following critical subjects:

  • Educational research
  • Applied research in curriculum and instruction
  • Advanced instructional technology
  • Diversity in education
  • Advanced studies in special education

The program requirements also include 15 hours of elective courses based on the individual’s chosen concentration. For example, they can take courses in key subjects such as:

  • Research in instruction for a particular concentration
  • Curriculum in theory and practice for a particular concentration
  • Assessment and differentiation for a particular concentration
  • Issues in education for a particular concentration
  • Advanced instructional management for a particular concentration

Admissions Requirements

To gain admission to the online MEd program, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the baccalaureate level.
  2. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited program and an accredited college or university. 
    • To be used to satisfy degree requirements, evaluation of foreign educational transcripts must show degree earned that’s the U.S. equivalent of degree required by the program.
  3. Official transcripts from all universities and colleges ever attended. 
    • Only in the case of transcripts from international colleges or universities will an official course-by-course transcript evaluation be accepted in lieu of an official transcript. 
    • To be used to satisfy degree requirements, an evaluation of foreign educational transcripts must show a degree earned that’s the U.S. equivalent of the degree required by the program.
    • Official transcripts should be sent to Augusta University's Office of Academic Admissions. To remain official, all transcripts must remain in the original, unopened, sealed and stamped/signed envelope from the registrar's office of the issuing institution. Alternatively, Augusta University will accept official electronic transcripts from the registrar's office at your prior institution. Electronic transcripts should be directed to graduateadmissions@augusta.edu.
  4. Valid teaching credential. 
    • A valid teaching credential is required for Georgia applicants who wish to upgrade their credentials. Applicants outside of Georgia will need to follow their respective state rules for upgrading credentials, if desired.
