Academic Programs

Doctor of Dental Medicine

The Doctor of Dental Medicine program will educate you to become a licensed and competent general practitioner prepared to offer quality dental care and treatment to a diverse patient population.

BS in Dental Hygiene

Registered Dental Hygienists are credentialed and licensed health professionals who serve integral roles in the delivery of oral health care. The Augusta University Dental Hygiene program, established in 1967, has a long-standing tradition of excellence and maintains full accreditation through adherence to rigorous educational and technical standards. Graduates consistently achieve high pass rates on both national written and clinical board examinations.

The program prepares students to provide preventive, therapeutic, and educational dental health services in support of overall health. Graduates are employed in private dental practices, specialty clinics, public health agencies, and government settings, with strong demand in rural and underserved areas. Dental hygienists must be licensed in each state where they practice, which typically requires graduation from an accredited program and successful completion of national and clinical board exams.

Advanced Education

The Advanced Education programs are designed to provide you with a superior level of clinical skill and in-depth knowledge of the biological and clinical sciences that apply to the area.

Oral Biology Dual Degree

The Graduate Program and the Oral Biology program of the Dental College offer a Oral Biology & Maxillofacial Pathology Dual Degree. The combined MS/DMD and PhD/DMD programs require admission to the Dental College of Georgia as a dental student. At the end of the second year of dental school, the student begins a course of study working toward the graduate degree requirements. The student then re-enters the dental school to complete the DMD degree requirements.

Concurrent DMD/MBA Degree Program

The Concurrent DMD-MBA Degree Program allows students to be dually enrolled in both DMD and MBA courses simultaneously. Developed through a partnership between the Dental College of Georgia and The Hull College of Business, our mission is to foster future leaders in dentistry who are skilled in the practices of dentistry and business management. Students must complete at least two semesters of the DMD program before enrolling into concurrent MBA coursework.
