Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)
The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) program prepares the EMT student
to provide a higher level of prehospital care.
The curriculum focuses on building upon the EMT student’s existing knowledge base
and provides them with the knowledge and skills to perform advanced interventions
in the prehospital setting.
Competencies include:
- Advanced assessment.
- Airway management.
- Intravenous therapy.
- Pharmacological interventions.
Successful completion of the program allows students to take the National Registry
of Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians AEMT certification examination and apply
for Georgia licensure as an AEMT.
Prerequisites:
- High school or General Education Development diploma.
- Valid state driver license and social security number.
- Pass a Criminal Background check.
- Proof of immunizations.
- Successfully pass a drug screen.
- Proof of successfully completing Emergency Medical Technician program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
