Consultations

In a consultations explore study habits and time management strategies and develop personalized approaches to note-taking, reading, and test preparation. Get help identifing barriers to academic success and create an action plan and connecting you to tutoring, peer coaching, workshops, and other campus resources.

Who Should Schedlue a Consultation?

  • Students who want to improve their overall academic performance
  • Students transitioning into college-level coursework or balancing heavy course loads
  • Students seeking strategies beyond tutoring (e.g., organization, motivation, study skills)
  • Students referred by faculty, advisors, or staff for additional support

Tutoring by CAPE Areas

The Academic Success Center provides specialized tutoring support based on your academic major through the CAPE (Career and Academic Professional Engagement) structure. Find your CAPE area below to see what majors we support:

CAPE 1

Students in the following colleges fall under CAPE 1:

  • College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS)
  • College of Nursing (CON)
  • College of Science and Mathematics (CSM)
    Tutoring support includes subjects such as anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, nursing courses, health sciences, and math.

CAPE 2

Students in the following colleges fall under CAPE 2:

  • Hull College of Business (HCOB)
  • School of Computer and Cyber Sciences (SCCS)
  • College of Education and Human Development (COEHD)
    Tutoring support includes accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, computer science, cybersecurity, education courses, and foundational math.

CAPE 3

Students in the Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences fall under CAPE 3. Tutoring support includes writing, communication, history, psychology, sociology, political science, foreign languages, and more.
