Medical Student Well-being

Medical school is as challenging as it is rewarding. As you progress through your education, a good personal goal to set is to make sure your stay healthy in mind, body and spirit. Social Wellness

One of the best ways to shake off feelings of sadness and loneliness is to get out and be around friends and family. Here's what you can do to ward off those feelings of isolation.

  • Service learning: Medical students are required to do volunteering as part of the MCG program.
  • The SeroTONEins: MCG's acappella singing group, Check them out on Instagram.
  • Student discounts: Enjoy discounts on local dining and activities.

Emotional Wellness

Feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or stressed can take a toll on your mental health. Psychological support is available for all our medical students. We know what it takes to do what you do, and we want you to know you are not alone:

Loan Forgiveness

Medical school expenses shouldn't be a burden. There are many options out there if you are looking to pay off your school debt.

If you need a loan or need to open a line of credit, we recommend these to our medical students.

  • Security Federal Bank - Personal Line of Credit (PLOC)

Disability Insurance for Medical Students

All Medical students are charged a mandatory Student Disability Insurance Fee of $93 during the Fall semester of each year of enrollment. If you are a full-time active-duty member of the Armed Forces of any country, then you are not eligible for this insurance and will receive a waiver in your POUNCE account. The active-duty military category includes those students who have been released from in-service for assignments such as attending medical school.
