Office of Learner Well-being

The Office of Learner Well-being was established in 2020 to support the wellness of our learners in Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) and Graduate Medical Education (GME) at the Medical College of Georgia. If you are an MCG-AU medical student, resident, or fellow, then you are a learner.

We know that in order to provide optimal patient care, our UME/GME learners and future healthcare providers need to feel supported. That's where we come in! We work closely with faculty and staff to ensure you have access to all available services in our support system.

How are you doing?

If you're feeling burned out, stressed, or overwhelmed, it's important that you contact us.

We also encourage you to do a self-evaluation using the Well-being Index; a 100% anonymous, web-based tool that assesses multiple dimensions of distress in just 9 questions, allowing you to:

  • Measure burnout
  • Compare scores with your peers
  • Get access to valuable resources
  • Track your progress over time to promote self-awareness

Request Services

The Office of Learner Well-being offers a number of wellness programs to medical students, residents, fellows, faculty, and staff. These services are designed to create an environment where all learners and healthcare providers can thrive, feel supported, and well treated so they can, in turn, provide optimal patient care.

To request our services, please fill out a request form. Have in mind some possible dates you would like for us to consider when making the arrangements for your group session.

What is Well-being?

Being healthy, happy, and satisfied with life contributes greatly to your well-being. With all the demands that come with training for, and being in, the medical profession, it's hard to find time for your own physical and mental health needs. Ask yourself how you're doing. Are you feeling out-of-sync in any aspect of your life? If the answer is yes, you need to start focusing on your own well-being.

Dimensions of Well-being

Physical Wellness

Staying active and keeping fit is essential for a healthy body and mind.

Emotional Wellness

How you feel on the inside is just as important as how you feel on the outside.

Social Wellness

Social interaction and doing things with others can keep you busy and engaged.

Spiritual Wellness

Connecting with your spiritual beliefs provides a sense of strength, purpose and community.

Financial Wellness

Being able to manage and save your money gives you a sense of financial security.
