Interfraternity Council

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) at Augusta University is the governing body of the fraternities at Augusta University who are eligible for membership in the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), an organization established to foster inter-fraternity relations and assist in the development and education of NIC fraternities and their member chapters.

IFC strives to promote academic excellence, philanthropic services, resources for recruitment, leadership, and inter-fraternal unity. Each fraternity at Augusta University is dedicated to personal development, academic achievement, leadership, and service to the campus community. Activities of a fraternity may include study halls, community service projects, cook-outs, intramural sports, educational programs, sorority mixers, formal dances, and leadership training. Fraternities ultimately offer close friendships that will last through college and beyond

Our Values

Leadership: We focus on leadership and give fraternity men meaningful opportunities to develop themselves and their skill sets through their positions, both within their chapters and the Council. The leadership roles and responsibilities provided allow these brothers to grow into stronger men, scholars, and leaders.

Self-Governance: We are committed to upholding our values by maintaining an environment of individually self-governed chapters held accountable to meet the standards of each other, the University, governing bodies, and our Council.

Community: We offer our members the ability to bond and grow through activities that strengthen the life-long brotherhood of their own chapter and the networks built within the community.

Service: We provide men with a variety of service opportunities and resources, on and off campus, in order to embody and garner a deeper meaning of the Volunteer spirit.

Formal Recruitment

How to Join

IFC hosts a formal recruitment at the start of both Fall and Spring semesters. Students interested in joining a fraternity will have the opportunity to participate in the Interfraternity Council (IFC) sponsored recruitment week. During this time, the fraternities will be hosting events for students to participate in so they can decide which chapter they are interested in. Students are encouraged to participate in all the events hosted by each fraternity to get a good feel for what is involved. These events will start with two IFC sponsored events and end with a bidding ceremony from one of the fraternities.

Continuous Open Bidding (COB) is offered after formal recruitment is over. To find out more, contact the IFC or one of its chapters.

  • You must attend open house in order to participate in Formal Recruitment.
