Retrospective Review of Head and Neck Cancer Patients

This is a retrospective chart review to develop a database of all head and neck cancer patients who were treated by the Medical College of Georgia Department of Otolaryngology. From these charts, data will be extrapolated and analyzed using appropriate statistical tests to identify if there are any statistical differences in the outcomes of head and neck carcinomas based on differences in patient and tumor characteristics. For additional study amendment, we plan to develop a multicenter, deidentified retrospective databases with contributions by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), of patients who have undergone salvage surgery for oropharyngeal cancer.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Any patients who are 18 years of age and older with identified squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck treated at Augusta University Medical Center, and we will retrospectively review all surgeries done before 07/31/2023. Head and neck cancer patients who are 18 years of age and older undergoing surgery will be given questionnaires to evaluate their pain, quality of life, psychologic factors both pre-operatively and post-operatively. Additional study amendment: Patient who are 18 years of age and older undergone salvage surgery for oropharyngeal cancer.
