Comparative effectiveness of biofeedback, sacral nerve stimulation, and injectable bulking agents for the treatment of fecal incontinence

Do you or someone you know experience accidental bowel leakage (ABL), which is also known as fecal incontinence? We are recruiting men and women to participate in a 2 year research study comparing three FDA approved treatments for ABL; Biofeedback therapy, Solesta injections and Sacral Nerve Stimulation.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible adults who have been diagnosed with fecal incontinence for the past 6 months or longer, (accidental stool leakage). Subjects should have at least 2 accidental stool leakage episodes a week to be eligible. No other major gastrointestinal surgeries or diagnoses (e.g. Chrohn's or Ulcerative Colitis). No major anorectal disorders (absess, hemorroids, tumors, etc.) No pregnancy or those who may become pregnant. No major neurological disorders (e.g. Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, or severe diabetic neuropathy).
