Collaborative Training IRB Initiative (CITI) Training

Human research protection training required for all research team members listed on Institutional Review Board (IRB) submission:

  • Complete By: Must be completed before working on any IRB approved study, complete Learner Group 1 – FDA Regulated Research
  • Available: At any time
  • Format: Web-based program (www.citiprogram.org)
  • Length: 4-6 hours
  • Frequency: Recertification required every three years

Human Research Academy

Required for all new research team members conducting human subject research

  • Complete By: Within 6 months of employment or being added to a research team
  • Available: After completing CITI training

  • Length: 1 week generally ½ day sessions in the morning
  • Frequency: Once (offered in April and October each year; 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Initial Biosafety and Blood Borne Pathogen Training

Required for anyone working with hazardous biological materials, including human specimens

  • Complete By: Before working with biological specimens or before being involved in an IBC protocol submission or amendment

Required for anyone shipping dangerous good, potentially infectious substances, or using dry ice (Clinical/diagnostic/biological samples, anything on dry ice)
