Dr. Joy Hoffman is a freelance bassoonist and teaching artist. At the age of seventeen, she made her solo debut on National Public Radio's "From the Top." Joy graduated summa cum laude in bassoon performance, both with her B.M. from Florida State University in 2009 and her M.M. from University of Maryland in 2011. She graduated with her D.MA. from the University of Georgia in December 2020 and has enjoyed presenting her research from her doctoral dissertation, "Professional Classical Musicians With ADHD: A Qualitative Study."

Dr. Hoffman performs throughout the southeast. During her time in Pensacola, Florida, she performed frequently with the Pensacola Symphony, Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, Gulf Coast Symphony, and Sinfonia Gulf Coast. Since moving to Evans, Georgia in 2014, she plays regularly with the Augusta Symphony and Lyra Vivace Chamber Orchestra. She has served as a substitute bassoonist with the Charleston Symphony, Hilton Head Symphony, Greenville Symphony, Atlanta Ballet, Savannah Philharmonic, and Albany Symphony.

In addition to serving as the bassoon instructor at Augusta University, Joy has also taught lessons through the Music Conservatory Program. She previously taught at Newberry College, Pensacola State College, and in 2019, she served as a guest teaching artist at Emory University's Bassoon Extravaganza. Joy maintains a private teaching studio from her home, where she spends the rest of her time chasing after her one year old son.
