The Jazz Studies program at the Augusta University Department of Music offers one of the most dynamic undergraduate jazz experiences in Georgia. Students perform regularly in Jazz Ensemble and chamber settings while building professional experience that prepares them for graduate study and careers in jazz performance, music education, and the music industry.
The Augusta University Jazz Studies Program is led by Wycliffe Gordon, musical ambassador and interpreter of “America’s” music, and one of the world’s most renowned and award-winning jazz trombonists touring today. Gordon's students have the opportunity to work and perform with famed jazz musicians from around the world including jazz greats such as Charles McPherson, Herlin Riley, David Sanchez, Houston Person, Jimmy Heath, Jay Leonhart, Andrea Brachfield and Branford Marsalis, to name a few.
