We offer exciting spaces for our students to learn, practice, and perform. The Department of Music is housed in the Fine Arts Center on the Summerville Campus, adjacent to the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre.

The Fine Arts Center received a $3.5 million renovation in 2019. This project not only relocated the rehearsal hall, but also more efficiently redesigned the remainder of the given space in the Fine Arts Center.

We were given a rehearsal/recital hall plan that allows for flexible seating and use of the room for both large ensemble rehearsals and student/faculty and chamber recitals. The new plan also effectively gave us four building wings, each with a specific purpose (recital/rehearsal wing, academic wing, administrative/faculty wing and the practice wing).

Our remodeled facility now contains:

  • Large rehearsal hall
  • Small rehearsal hall
  • Two classrooms
  • Piano lab
  • 15 practice rooms
  • Ten faculty studios
  • Six faculty offices
  • Instrumental locker room
  • Music storage

Our ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovation was held on Monday, February 24, 2020.
