English and World Languages

Find Your Future in the Department of English and World Languages

The Department of English and World Languages (EWL) provides students with a liberal arts education that prioritizes the development of humane values and a passion for life-long learning. Our graduates are prepared for diverse, meaningful, and long-lasting careers.

Our students learn to communicate effectively in English and several world languages. They draw on intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary bodies of knowledge to better understand literature, languages, and world cultures. Through both course offerings and co-curricular activities, our programs foster the development of reading, writing, critical thinking, analysis, and research skills.

Employers rate communication and critical thinking as the most import skills for a new graduates. 90% of U.S. employers prioritize multilingualism and cultural competency.

    Myth Busted!

  • Humanities Don't Apply to Health Sciences or STEM Fields

    Myth Busted!
Training in the humanities transfers into any career path and gives students a competitive edge in health science and STEM fields. Myth Busted!
