Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program

Since its ACGME accreditation in 1984, the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship at Augusta University’s Medical College of Georgia has been offering comprehensive and multifaceted training to prepare our fellows, not only for certification, but to also become competent and compassionate physicians, knowledgeable educators, and proficient researchers.

Centered in the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, our three-year program provides rigorous clinical training, a structured educational curriculum, and ample opportunities for scholarship. During their training, fellows will gain competency in the management of neonates with wide variety of medical and surgical disorders.

Fellows have on-site exposure to extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), therapeutic hypothermia, inhaled nitric oxide and high-frequency ventilation. In addition to bedside clinical experiences, our rolling 18-month educational curriculum focuses on the board content specifications that prepares our fellows for certification.

Finally, a wide array of research possibilities are offered within the division and elsewhere throughout the university.

A post shared by MCG Neonatology (@mcg_neonatology_au)

We are committed to uphold Augusta University’s mission to promote and maintain student success. Our training program is made possible by our faculty, which consists of a mixture of senior and junior attendings from different backgrounds. We ensure all fellows get opportunities to round with each faculty member during their training in order to gain different perspectives and to, ultimately, develop their own methods of teaching and practicing Neonatology.
