Every year, we review more than 600 applications to find four passionate and promising candidates to begin the transformation from medical school graduate to orthopaedic surgeon. The orthopaedic surgery residency program at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University matches residents through the National Resident Matching Program.

Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program Application

Please submit your application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) by October 31, 2019. Our orthopaedic residency program selection committee will only consider complete applications that include:

  • A personal statement
  • Three letters of recommendation: We accept the AOA/CORD Standardized Letter of Recommendation.
  • A Dean’s letter
  • Your medical school transcript
  • Your United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 Score Report: USMLE Step 2 CK and 2 CS are not required at the time of initial application submission. However, please ensure that your Step 2 scores are uploaded to ERAS as soon as they are available.

Our selection committee is particularly interested in your personal statement and letters of recommendation. These documents should tell us what your medical school transcript and USMLE Step 1 Score Report are unable to convey:

  • Why you want to practice orthopaedic surgery and your objectives for achieving that goal
  • Your unique qualities and experiences
  • Why any interruptions in your education took place

After reviewing applications, we invite a select number of candidates for interviews. Due to COVID-19, all interviews will be virtual for the 2020-2021 match cycle.
