The Medical College of Georgia Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Augusta University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Our fellowship is a one-year clinical fellowship, sponsored by Wellstar.
A diverse faculty from multiple specialties is actively engaged in training fellows. The curriculum covers a wide range of sleep medicine topics, including sleep pharmacology, psychology with an emphasis on CBT-I interventions, sleep-disordered breathing, insomnia, narcolepsy, parasomnias, restless legs syndrome, neurodegenerative disorders, sleep surgery, normal sleep across the lifespan, and dental sleep medicine and orthodontics for both pediatric and adult populations.
Welcome to the Sleep Fellowship Program at Wellstar- MCG. We are excited to have you consider us for fellowship training and be in this fascinating specialty.
Our mission is to train clinically astute, well rounded sleep physicians who are well equipped to practice in any setting. We believe in patient centered multi -disciplinary care that is shaped by evidence based best practices as well as collaboration and empathy among all professionals.
Our program welcomes two fellows a year with applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds including internal medicine, family medicine, neurology, psychiatry, anesthesiology, and pulmonary/critical care. We are fortunate to have faculty members who represent these backgrounds, as well as a psychologist fully trained and practicing Behavioral Sleep Medicine. The diversity of our professional staff and well-rounded educational opportunities create a uniquely enriching interdisciplinary training environment that best prepares fellows to excel in a full-service sleep clinic.

We have a single clinical site at Wellstar- MCG Hospital and the Wellstar Children’s Hospital of Georgia. The accredited sleep lab is housed in the latter and the clinics in the former. This provides opportunities to care for patients over the the entire age spectrum. We have the Dental College of Georgia a short walk away to provide some insight and exposure to Dental Sleep Medicine.
Established along the Savannah River in 1736, Augusta is the state's second-largest city. The city is home to Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters golf tournament as well as the birthplace of legends like James Brown. A thriving arts community, plentiful outdoor activities, and locally owned restaurants add to its appeal for travelers. Along with Augusta’s world-renowned Southern hospitality, IRONMAN 70.3 Augusta blazes the trail for speed, excitement, and tradition as athletes traverse through the Savannah River, the scenic Georgia backcountry, and the heart of downtown.
We provide a learning environment that allows for excellent work-life balance as well as the opportunity to flourish and become a well-rounded sleep physician. Please let us know if you have any questions about our training program. We hope to hear from you soon!
