Benefits
In addition to the employee resources offered by Augusta University, the Department
of Emergency Medicine offers its residents several other benefits, including:
- Research Dollars: When original research is presented at a regional or national conference, the department
will pay for air travel, meeting registration, and one night in a hotel to encourage
scholarly work.
- Resident Retreat: All residents are provided a 24-hour protected period during the Spring of each year
to review the state of the residency and engage with their co-residents and program
leadership. The residency provides funds for a venue, group activity, and a catered
lunch.
- Regional or National Meeting Participation: In addition to the research dollars discussed, all residents are expected to attend
one regional or national meeting during their 3 years with our program, even if they
are not able to present research. To encourage meeting participation, conference registration,
hotel, and airfare will be covered by the department. Historically, residents often
choose to attend ACEP in their EM3 year as a class, but the meeting choice is up to
each resident.
