Interlibrary Loan Fees

The Augusta University Libraries is pleased to announce that effective immediately, all AU faculty, students, staff and researchers will not be charged for any standard InterLibrary Loan fees under $75. This applies to all article, book chapter, and loan requests from any provider outside of the GALILEO system, including International. The Libraries recognizes that timely and reasonable access to research materials is essential to the success of the AU Community and should be provided without financial barriers. This reflects our commitment to the values of the University as well as the vision of our new Strategic Plan. All interlibrary loan and document delivery must be within fair use parameters of copyright law.

About 75% of all materials borrowed from within the USG system of libraries arrive within 1 to 3 working days.  Materials not owned by USG Libraries will take longer to arrive and, in some cases, may not be available. This is especially true for rare and unique items.  The turnaround time for material requested during peak activity periods such as mid-terms and finals is often considerably longer than the standard 1 to 3 working days.  Please remember, however, that requests placed on Fridays or the weekend/holidays will take additional time to handle.

Augusta University Faculty, Staff, Students, and Augusta University Medical Center employees with valid Augusta University ID.
  • No charge for books or other physical items from University System Libraries. University System items may be provided free of charge through GIL Express, an expedited delivery service.
  • No charge for ILL items that are under $75.
Augusta University Distance Education Faculty and Students
  • All costs are the same as listed above.
Georgia AHEC Centers with Loansome Doc contract
  • $7.00 per journal article, whether located in-house or elsewhere.
  • $7.00 per book or other physical item provided from this or other libraries.
Libraries, Health professionals and individuals not affiliated with Augusta University/Augusta University Medical Center
  • $15.00 per journal article, whether located in-house or elsewhere.
  • $15.00 per monograph - (only libraries may borrow monographs).
Corporations or Law Firms
  • $25.00 per journal article, whether located in-house or elsewhere.
Rush Request Service (Rush requests will be prioritized in the system but are still subject to availability and regular office hours) AHEC, Non-affiliated and corporations only
  • $5.00 surcharge per item.
  • All requests are now processed same-day if possible. You may place a Rush request to prioritize your request as it is sent out to other libraries. 
Consortium Groups
  • CONBLS - reciprocal lending and borrowing for all materials.
  • University System of Georgia Libraries - reciprocal lending and borrowing for all materials.
  • GOLD (Georgia Online Databases) - reciprocal lending and borrowing of original materials only.
  • SOLINE (Southeastern Library Network, Inc.) - reciprocal lending and borrowing of original materials only.
