About the Hull College

The James M. Hull College of Business is accredited by AACSB International and offers outstanding, highly-engaged business and technology education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Educating future business and technology professionals since 1963 and being recognized among the Best 300 Business Schools in America, the Hull College advances its graduates by providing a word-class educational experience.

The College currently enrolls approximately 800 undergraduate and 80 graduate students. Undergraduate Bachelor of Business Administration degrees include Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, Management Information Systems and two Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Information Technology.

Hull College students are in high demand from employers within multiple organizations such as John Deere, Textron, Club Car, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, ADP, and Goodwill Industries, to name a few. Placement rates for the Accounting, Management Information Systems, Computer Science and Information Technology programs near 100% each academic year. The College strongly emphasizes experiential education with over 125 students completing internships and more than 30 students participating in study abroad each year.

Students receive highly personalized services to assist them with achieving academic and career success. Two Program Coordinators provide academic-related assistance and the Career & Employer Relations Manager provides career and professional development.

The Hull College consists of approximately 35 full-time tenure-track faculty and 15 part-time faculty. Faculty members facilitate a highly-engaged learning environment through a variety of course formats and contribute to their fields of study through diverse scholarly activities.

The Hull College leadership team consists of a Dean, Associate Dean, and Assistant Dean with two administrative support staff members.


The Hull College of Business at Augusta University has a long history of service to the state and surrounding region. Located in the second largest metropolitan area in Georgia, Augusta University's academic roots can be traced back to 1783 when the Academy of Richmond County was chartered. Opening in 1785, it offered college-level classes for boys to enter universities as sophomores or juniors. Over the years, enrollment grew and in 1925 the Junior College of Augusta was established, becoming the first junior college in the state. In 1958, the College became a member of the University System of Georgia and its name was changed to Augusta College.

In 1963 the Board of Regents approved programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees. This led to the establishment of the School of Business Administration in 1971 when the Board of Regents authorized the college to grant Master of Business Administration degrees. In 1996, the College of Business Administration was established with the change of designation of the Augusta College to Augusta State University.

In 1999, the College of Business Administration received initial accreditation from AACSB, a status which has been reaffirmed twice to date. In 2006, the College of Business was renamed to the James M. Hull College of Business in recognition of ongoing and generous support.

In 2012, the Hull College welcomed the Computer Science program, which greatly expanded its ability to offer a leading edge curriculum in the Computer and Information Sciences. A degree in Information Technology was initiated in 2013. In January of 2013, Augusta State University and Georgia Health Sciences University consolidated to become Augusta University, one of the state's four premier research institutions in the University System of Georgia.
