Bio

Dr. Dainer was appointed as Associate Professor of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in 1992. He is a graduate of The College of William and Mary and Jefferson Medical College. He completed his medicine residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and a clinical Fellowship at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. During that time he was also a visiting fellow at The Scripps Research Institute and at Fred Hutch Bone Marrow Transplant Program at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. During his naval service, he also also served at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia, Charleston Naval Hospital and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda Maryland. He has also held faculty positions at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, where he was the Acting Chief of Hematology/Oncology, and East Carolina University.

Research Interests

Upon arriving at MCG, he initiated research affiliations with the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project and the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and served as the Chairman of the Cancer Committee, Chairman of the MCG IRB Committee, the MCG Cancer Clinic Medical Director, and Chief of Hematology/Oncology at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. He has participated in cooperative group and investigator initiated clinical oncology trials and has co-authored several articles dealing with original clinical trials, review articles and case reports. Currently, he serves as a member of the MCG C IRB Committee.
