Dr. Phillip Coule serves as the Vice-President and Chief Medical Officer of the Augusta University Health System. Dr. Coule also serves as the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs of the Medical College of Georgia. He has previously served as the Associate Chief Medical Officer and Chief Patient Safety Officer since July 2015. Dr. Coule earned his M.D. degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1996 and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee in 2012. He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and the pre-hospital EMS Subspecialty Board. He previously served as Vice Chairman of Clinical and Business Operations for the MCG Department of Emergency Medicine and Hospitalist Services, where he applied LEAN principles to reduce operating costs, accelerate patient flow and increase overall value for our patients. An expert in emergency medicine, disaster preparedness and mass casualty triage. Dr. Coule serves on the Board of Directors for the National Disaster Life Support Foundation and helped develop the NDLS training programs that have become the gold standard for health care disaster preparedness training. Dr. Coule serves on the Board of Directors for GRAChIE – the Georgia Regional Academic Community Health Information Exchange – an electronic platform that promotes care coordination and quality through an efficient, meaningful healthcare information network.
