Dr. Alan Herline is a board certified Colon and Rectal Surgeon. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he is the Harrison Distinguished Chair of Surgery, Associate Director, Digestive Health Center and Section Chief of Minimally Invasive Digestive Disease Surgery. Previously he was an Associate Professor of Surgery and Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University and led the Colon and Rectal program from its creation to being the busiest surgical program at Vanderbilt as well as the fastest growing and most accomplished Colon and Rectal program in Tennessee. Dr. Herline is an Engineering graduate from Vanderbilt University and received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1994. He completed his Residency in Surgery at Vanderbilt, and specialized in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Lahey Clinic. He then returned to Vanderbilt to create the Colon and Rectal program.
